Vote for the Bunny Park

30 November 2008

Now is your chance for some interactive democracy that will benefit a London Park and preferably an Ealing one.  Boris Johnson is running his “Help a London Park” scheme and two Ealing parks have made the shortlist: Brent River Park and Southall Manor House Grounds.  The 10 (out of 47) winning parks, chosen by a [...]

My Debt to Labour

29 November 2008

Thanks to Gordon’s scorched earth spending policy the national debt is soaring.  Your share is increasing all the time and is shown below and will be a constant feature in the side bar to the right.

Shocking arrest of Damian Green

29 November 2008

Not been at my PC for a couple of days due to work commitments but I wanted to express my outrage at the arrest of Conservative Shadow Minister Damian Green.  Apparentley 20 Police Officers from the Metropolitan Police raided his homes and offices in a very heavy handed manner.  They seized his phone, computers and papers [...]

Conservative Friends of Poland

27 November 2008

I hobnobbed at the House of Commons the other night and attended the formal launch of a new group, the Conservative Friends of Poland.  Clearly the connections between Ealing and Poland are strong.  Ealing is twinned with a Polish town, Bielany, and there was a strong Ealing representation at the the meeting including Cllrs Potts, [...]

Raising funds for St Ann’s Special School

25 November 2008

I went to a fundraising event last night at the Monsoon Banqueting Suite in Southall for St Ann’s School in Hanwell.  St Ann’s is a special school that does tremendous work with children with severe learning difficulties and I was therefore very happy to go along and support the event.  Mr Bhinder, a governor at the school, [...]

The Streets for People debate continues

25 November 2008

I attended the Pitshanger Community Association AGM last night at St Barnabus Church Hall in Pitshanger Lane.  Cllrs Popham (Cleveland) and Sumner (Hanger Hill) were also present.

The reports from Tim Sumpter, the Chair, and the other officers were straight forward.  The any other business part of the agenda is often where the difficult questions come.  [...]

2.5% off won’t make a difference

24 November 2008

So the speculation is that the Chancellor is going to axe a whopping 2.5% off VAT later today.  Big fat hairy deal!  Even if Alistair Darling pulls a rabbit out of the hat and shocks us with a 5% reduction, will we really feel better off?  Shops have signs with 50% or even 75% reductions [...]

At least one was converted!

23 November 2008

I met a resident of Woodbury Park Gardens at the Brentford v Darlington game this weekend (1-1 draw with a last minute scrambled equaliser for Brentford by Karleigh Osborne if you’re interested).  He’d been to the North Ealing Primary school public meeting last week and said that he’d gone with his mind very much against [...]

Man shot dead in Cleveland Ward

22 November 2008

I’ve just heard that a man has been found shot dead on the footpath that runs between Hathaway Gardens and Drayton Bridge Road.  I do not have any more details at present except to say that the police believe that it is a drug related incident and not gang related.
I will post more when I [...]

£40,000 allocated across Cleveland Ward

21 November 2008

In addition to the CPZ discussion at the ward forum, we also allocated the £40,000 devolved budget for Cleveland Ward last night.  The Cleveland Ward councillors (John Popham, Greg Stafford and myself) were keen to see projects across the whole ward and we didn’t want to spend it all on one big item.
In total we had [...]
