Target roundabout improvements approved
I couldn’t attend last weeks Cabinet meeting due to a work commitment. I was delighted that my colleagues agreed in my absence to approve a scheme to reduce the amount of traffic that builds up in Northolt around the Target Roundabout.
Anybody who has to drive, cycle or get the bus around the Target Roundabout will know that Mandeville Road and Church Road, can be a nightmare. The plans, which will now go out to public consultation, include widening the carriageway between Church Avenue and Alderney Gardens as well as introducing new traffic lanes from the roundabout to filter the traffic. The whole scheme should be implemented by April. According to the transport experts, the proposals will dramatically reduce the heavy congestion in the area.
It is estimated that works will cost £500,000 and be funded by Ealing Council and Transport for London. Works will also include:
- Resurfacing and repaving part of Church Road
- Signing and line marking improvements
- Improvements to the general appearance of the area
Improving traffic around this junction will not only benefit car drivers, but also bus users who should see more reliable journey times.
