Copley Close Regeneration
Copley Close on the borders of Hanwell and West Ealing is one of the 7 estates that Ealing has identified as a priority estate for regeneration. in my view Copley Close is in the most urgent need of all of them. I am chairing a committee of residents looking into the options for the regeneration of the estate and there is a mix of tremendous enthusiasm to see improvements made and cynicism that they’ve seen and heard good intentions before and nothing has happened.
Copley is a 1960s GLC estate, that was badly designed and has been badly maintained. But there are a tremendous group of people living there, like Jackie Sear who runs The Base with her team, a superb community resource.
Quite frankly they deserve better than what they’ve got – I am determined to do my best to make sure it is delivered.
